Mavericks Offer Season Ticket Refunds Following Doncic Trade

Mavs fans are furious after the team traded away superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, and now some season ticket holders are getting their money back.

The team is offering refunds for the remaining 16 home games this season, with at least one fan already securing their roughly $2,000 refund according to local Dallas media.

But that’s just the beginning of fans’ outrage.

A local brewery has even started selling “Sell the Team” beer, while angry supporters launched a GoFundMe to put up billboards expressing their disappointment with the shocking trade.

“We value every season ticket member relationship,” Mavs VP Erin Finegold said in a text message, adding that representatives are available to discuss concerns with ticket holders.

The drama started Sunday when Dallas shipped their 25-year-old franchise player to the Lakers in a deal that stunned the basketball world. Doncic, who’s made the All-NBA first team five times already, was traded along with role players Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris.

In return? The Mavs got 31-year-old Anthony Davis, young reserve Max Christie, and a first-round draft pick that won’t come until 2029.

Fans didn’t wait long to show their anger. Within hours of the trade, protesters gathered outside the American Airlines Center with signs blasting Mavs GM Nico Harrison, who worked out the deal with the Lakers behind closed doors.

The team is trying to calm things down, telling season ticket holders they’ll hear about next season’s pricing “over the next few weeks.”

Harrison defended the controversial move: “I’m sorry they’re frustrated, but it’s something that we believe in as an organization. It’s going to make us better.”

He added, “When we win, I believe the frustration will go away.”

That might be a tough sell for fans who just watched their young superstar head to Hollywood.
