The Dallas Mavericks reached the NBA Finals last season but lost to the Boston Celtics in five games.
New Additions to the Team:
This summer, the Mavericks’ front office made some big moves by adding Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, and Spencer Dinwiddie. According to Marc Stein, most of the team has already started training in Los Angeles ahead of the new season. Only their two non-US players were absent.
“Everything I heard about the minicamp was that the on-court stuff was great, but maybe the off-court stuff was even better,” Stein shared with Kevin Gray Jr. “The fact that theyโre all getting together in late August, a month before camp really starts, I mean, I donโt see how you would look at that as anything but encouraging.”
Team Chemistry and Workouts:
Kyrie Irving and other Mavericks players recently gathered in Los Angeles for offseason workouts. Here’s a tweet from Kevin Gray Jr. about it:

Looking Ahead:
Jason Kidd’s team has shown they have what it takes to compete at a high level. Led by Luka Doncic, they are expected to be strong contenders for future NBA Finals appearances. But talent alone isn’t enough.
One thing that helped the Celtics last season was their strong locker room chemistry. Everyone was willing to sacrifice for team success. It looks like Dallas is learning from this by working out together early and building unity.
Fans think this is super exciting!
Whether these early workouts will be enough remains uncertain. However, it’s definitely a positive sign for both the coaching staff and fans as we head into the new season.
