Michael Jordan Bulls Jersey From 1992-93 Season Sells For $2.6M At Auction

A Michael Jordan uniform worn during the Bulls’ legendary 1992-93 season just sold for a staggering $2.623 million at Heritage Auctions. The jersey appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in October 1993.

This isn’t just any Jordan uniform. It’s the only one that experts have been able to match to any season during the Bulls’ first championship three-peat.

While authentication services couldn’t confirm it was worn in every game, they believe the jersey likely appeared in all 32 road games from November 1992 through March 1993.

Experts matched both the jersey and shorts to 11 games, with either the jersey or shorts confirmed for another six games.

The uniform shows clear signs of heavy use. It’s noticeably softer than other Jordan jerseys due to “repeated cycles of sweaty wear and laundering.” There are loose threads visible, and the shorts’ drawstring has turned pink from red dye bleeding during washing.

The 1992-93 season was incredible for Jordan and the Bulls.

His Airness averaged 32.6 points per game while adding 6.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists. He shot nearly 50% from the field and led the NBA in scoring for the seventh straight year, tying Wilt Chamberlain’s record.

That season capped off Chicago’s first three-peat.

Jordan was absolutely unstoppable in the 1993 Finals, averaging an NBA-record 41 points across six games. He also became the first player ever to win three straight Finals MVP awards.

This isn’t the most expensive Jordan item ever sold, though. That honor belongs to his 1998 “Last Dance” Finals jersey, which went for $10.091 million in 2022.

Other notable Jordan memorabilia sales include six championship-clinching Air Jordan shoes that sold together for $8 million last year, and a signed preseason rookie jersey that fetched $4.215 million in March.

Even Jordan’s record-setting memorabilia can’t match baseball legend Babe Ruth’s “Called Shot” jersey from the 1932 World Series, which recently sold for an eye-popping $24.1 million.
