The Golden State Warriors are making history by retiring their first jersey from their 2010s dynasty era. Andre Iguodala’s No. 9 will be heading to the rafters this season, marking a special moment for the franchise.
While Iggy only started 84 games for Golden State, he appeared in 452 total games and played a crucial defensive role during the team’s incredible run of five straight NBA Finals appearances.
His biggest moment came in 2015 when he won Finals MVP for his outstanding defense against LeBron James, helping the Warriors capture their first title of the era.
Some NBA fans might remember him more for being on the wrong end of LeBron’s famous chase-down block when Cleveland got revenge the following year. But to Warriors fans, he’ll always be remembered as a key piece of their four championship teams.
