Payton Pritchard’s Miracle Three Caps Celtics First-Half Run

Celtics guard Payton Pritchard hit a deep three-pointer at the buzzer to end the first half of Game 5 in the NBA Finals.

“Here’s Pritchard he loves these… puts it up from halfcourt at the buzzer… BANG… HE’S DONE IT AGAIN!” https://t.co/dWXM1HVj4D pic.twitter.com/EtcSju6Gn0 — NBA (@NBA) June 18, 2024

The shot was from 49 feet out and was the longest in the finals for the past 25 years, according to ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

Fans must be thrilled with this incredible moment. The buzzer-beater was actually Pritchard’s second in this series. He had another one at the end of Game 2’s third quarter, pushing Boston ahead by nine points. That game ended with a Celtics victory, 105-98.

Game Highlights:

Reflecting on his earlier shot in Game 2, Pritchard said, “I probably blacked out a little bit.” It seems like he might have done it again during Monday’s game. The Celtics were unstoppable in that first half of Game 5.

Boston dominated with a huge lead of 67-46 by halftime. They shot an impressive 52.1 percent overall and nailed nearly half their three-pointers (10-of-21). Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum led the team with a combined score of 31 points.

The whole team contributed to this blowout performance. With just one more half to go, Boston is on track for their record-setting 18th NBA championship! Fans are buzzing about whether it’s finally going to be Celtics’ night.

What do you think? Will they make history tonight?
