Alright, hoop fans, buckle up for some spicy basketball drama!
So, Rajon Rondo managed to dodge a jail stint on Tuesday by copping to a misdemeanor gun charge in Jackson County, Indiana.
Rondo’s Legal Tightrope
Rondo’s plea deal had him admitting to carrying a handgun unlawfully, while the other chargesโmarijuana possession and drug paraphernaliaโgot tossed out. Heโs now on probation for 180 days and has to cover all the case costs. The four-time All-Star got nabbed on January 28 after a traffic stop.

A Wild Ride on I-65
The whole mess started when cops got a call about a black 2022 Tesla driving recklessly on I-65 South between Indy and Louisville. When they pulled Rondo over, a state trooper smelled weed. A search turned up a gun, drug paraphernalia, and what looked like marijuana. There was even a juvenile in the car who got handed over to family.
Probation Over Prison
Court records show Rondo paid $189 in court costs and got his six-month jail sentence suspended. Instead, heโs on probation for six months. Honestly, I think he got off pretty easy. This isnโt Rondoโs first brush with the law either. Back in 2022, he had an emergency protective order slapped on him, and again in 2023 by the same woman. He had to do anger management, counseling, and a mental health check before the first order was dropped. The 2023 case ended in an agreed order.
Rondo’s Rollercoaster Career
Rondo hung up his sneakers in April after 16 seasons in the NBA. He played for nine teams, averaging 9.8 points, 7.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals. He spent over eight seasons with the Celtics before getting traded to the Mavs in 2014 for Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright, Jameer Nelson, and some draft picks. The guyโs got two rings to his name, including one with Boston back in ’08. His last run was with the Cavs during the 2021-22 season.
So, what do you think? Is Rondo’s legacy tarnished, or will fans remember him for his on-court brilliance?
