Russell Westbrook hasn’t played for the Denver Nuggets yet, but he’s already addressing rumors.
Westbrook Responds to Jersey Number Rumors:
Recently, a report claimed that Westbrook asked Christian Braun to give up his No. 0 jersey, which Westbrook has worn for most of his career. Braun reportedly refused this request. Westbrook quickly took to social media to clear things up.
โLetโs please leave our young star alone,โ wrote Westbrook in an Instagram post. โCB and I never discussed him passing along the number 0. I didnโt want, inquire about, or request the number 0 because I chose to mark this new change with a ‘new’ number. The excitement of the new season has already begun, and unfortunately I know that means the offload of many false stories. Not today!โ

Choosing a New Number:
Instead of No. 0, Westbrook will wear No. 4 for the second time in his NBA career. He wore this number during his time with the Washington Wizards in honor of Gilbert Arenas.
Even if the rumor was true, it makes sense for Westbrook to deny it to protect Braun from any backlash.
Braun’s Perspective:
Braun is considered one of Denver’s promising talents and has already won a championship wearing No. 0. It’s understandable if he didn’t want to give up his jersey number.
Fans think it’s great that players are standing up for each other.
Sometimes these stories just seem made-up!
