Russell Westbrook’s Clippers Tenure Nears End

Russell Westbrook spent last season coming off the bench for the Clippers. He averaged 11.1 points, five rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. However, his future with the team is uncertain.

Both Westbrook and the Clippers plan to part ways this summer. Shams Charania from The Athletic reported that Denver Nuggets are interested in signing him if he becomes a free agent.

“The Clippers and Russell Westbrook plan to part ways this offseason, and the franchise continues to discuss trades for the former NBA MVP, team and league sources said,” Charania reported. “The Denver Nuggets are a front-runner to sign Westbrook if he becomes a free agent.”

Westbrook’s Potential Move

The Clippers might trade Tyus Jones, which means they don’t need Westbrook anymore. Fans think he could be a great fit for the Nuggets because of his rebounding, scoring, and playmaking skills .

Denver needs someone reliable as a backup for Jamal Murray since he’s often injured. But they have to show strong interest in Westbrook if they want him to join their team.

Since joining the Lakers in 2021, Westbrook has struggled with finding a consistent role on any team. Moving to a team that needs his skills makes sense now more than ever.

Fans believe that although he’s no longer an MVP-caliber player, he can still make significant contributions both on and off the court.

Westbrook’s time in Los Angeles didn’t go as planned after playing for both teams there. Now it’s time for him to find a place where he can shine again in his career’s twilight years.
