The son of a legendary coach is making his own way in basketball.
Shams Charania shared on Monday that Buddy Boeheim will sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This means he gets a one-year deal at the league’s minimum salary.
Buddy, who played four years at Syracuse under his dad Jim Boeheim, went undrafted in 2022 but joined the Detroit Pistons on a two-way contract. Over two seasons with Detroit, he averaged 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game and also played for their Summer League and G League teams.
In the G League last season with Motor City Cruise, Buddy did much better. He scored an average of 17 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and had 2 assists per game over 31 appearances while hitting 43.1% of his three-pointers. Now, he’s using that success to get a deal with the Thunder.
