The Golden State Warriors lost Klay Thompson at the start of the offseason.
Thompson Joins Mavericks:
Klay Thompson, a four-time champion, has joined the Dallas Mavericks. He will team up with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. With Thompson’s departure, some people think the Warriors won’t be strong contenders this season. They have struggled to find a second star to support Steph Curry.
During an interview with People Magazine, Curry talked about these concerns and shared his excitement to prove doubters wrong.
“You can’t play this game for life, but the fact that being with the Warriors for this long and championship window that we’ve had, you want to keep that open for as long as possible,” Curry said. “…I love the fact that people don’t think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams that they’re picking in the West. And I just love that challenge of stepping into a training camp and being able to create your own success โ that gets me going.โ
Warriors’ New Additions:
Losing Thompson was tough for the Warriors, but they quickly moved to fill his spot by adding De’Anthony Melton, Buddy Hield, and Kyle Anderson. These new players should help improve their lineup rather than weaken it. Yet, it’s clear Curry still needs an All-Star teammate if they want to compete at the top level in their conference.
Fans felt disappointed after failed attempts to get Paul George and Lauri Markkanen. But there’s hope because Golden State has enough assets to trade for a star player if one becomes available or unhappy on another team.
We believe fans are eager for another big move from Golden State!
With Curry leading them, the Warriors will be tough opponents. If they can add another star player soon, they could become strong contenders again. Curry is excited about proving everyone wrong this season; now it’s up to management to match his ambition. If not, coach Steve Kerr’s team might end up fighting just to avoid playing in tournaments instead of aiming for top spots in their conference.
