Steph Curry’s perfect night from beyond the arc helped the Golden State Warriors snap out of their recent slump with a dominant win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 35-year-old sharpshooter went 8-for-8 on three-pointers while dishing out 10 assists – something no player in NBA history has ever done before.
“Chef Curry was definitely cooking tonight,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said with a grin after the game.
It’s been a tough season for Golden State, who’ve fallen to 10th place in the Western Conference. But Curry’s 30-point masterpiece showed why he’s still one of the league’s most electric players.
The performance was extra special because it pushed Curry past Michael Jordan for most 30-point games by a guard after turning 35. He now has 40 such games, though he’s still chasing some pretty impressive names – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (48), Karl Malone (80), and LeBron James (107).
Jonathan Kuminga gave the Warriors a huge boost off the bench, dropping 20 points and showing why the team’s so excited about his future.
The win couldn’t have come at a better time for Golden State. Trade rumors have been swirling around the team, with talks about possibly bringing in Zion Williamson or moving veteran Draymond Green.
Green, who’s been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season, had a solid night with 15 points. Andrew Wiggins and Dennis Schroder matched that output, helping the Warriors look like their old selves again.
For the 76ers, Joel Embiid put up his usual impressive numbers – 28 points and 14 rebounds – but it wasn’t enough to overcome Curry’s perfect shooting display.
The Warriors are hoping this win can help turn their season around. With Curry still capable of these kinds of magical performances, they’re not counting themselves out just yet.
