While Team USA has only had their star-studded team for a month, theyโve won every game so far, including their Olympic opener against Serbia on Sunday.
Stephen Curry’s First Olympics
Stephen Curry is playing in his first Olympic Games and talked about the challenges. He said the tournament feels like NBA playoffs with different court dimensions and shorter games. โItโs like playoff basketball. Different dimensions on the court, shorter time frame, 48 to 40 minutes, physical brand of basketball,โ he explained. The hardest part is blending all their skills quickly without a full year of training together.

Kerr’s Coaching Challenges
Steve Kerr is coaching Team USA again this summer and talked about managing so many stars. โThatโs the job, right? Weโve got 12 All-Stars if not All-Stars, world-class players and champions,โ he said. He mentioned that players feel relieved because they donโt have to carry their franchises alone here. They focus only on winning gold and forget everything else.
Fans really love seeing these superstars come together!
The Americans beat Serbia 110-84 on Sunday and are now getting ready to play South Sudan this Wednesday.
โItโs our job as staff to keep everyone engaged and ready because we need all 12 guys,โ Kerr added about preparing for future games.
Joel Embiid’s Experience
Joel Embiid is also experiencing his first Olympics but sees it differently than Curry. He loves playing with great players and finding ways to help the team win. โThis is a different setting… Iโm loving it,โ he shared.
Embiid also sees this as good practice for the next NBA season with Paul George and Tyrese Maxey in Philadelphia. โI want Tyrese [Maxey] to take the next step… This is a great experience for me,โ Joel said enthusiastically.
