Steph Curry has spent his entire career with the Golden State Warriors.
During a recent appearance on “Today,” Curry shared his hopes to retire with the Warriors but emphasized that winning is his top priority.
โI hope so, for sure,” Curry said. “Iโm going into my 16th year and always said itโs a goal of mine to finish my career with that organization that has seen me go through the ranks and accomplish amazing things with Draymond and I know Klayโs not with us anymore but…I wanna keep winningโ.
Warriors in Transition:
The Warriors are currently experiencing significant changes. This summer, they lost Klay Thompson to free agency; he joined the Dallas Mavericks. The team is juggling player development while trying to remain competitive. These challenges led them to miss the postseason after losing to the Sacramento Kings in the play-in tournament.
Failed Attempts at Strengthening:
This summer, the Warriors tried hard to get another All-Star alongside Curry but didn’t succeed. They couldn’t trade for Paul George from the L.A. Clippers or Lauri Markkanen from the Utah Jazz.
Fans believe this struggle shows how much effort is needed behind-the-scenes.
Fortunately, they have many assets they could trade, making it possible for them to become contenders again soon. This should encourage Curry to stay in San Francisco for a few more years.
However, if the front office hesitates too long in making moves, they risk wasting precious time with their star player. Curry’s comments seem like a nudge for management to act fast and find him an All-Star teammate.
