Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry might get a $62.6 million one-year extension this summer, extending his contract through the 2026-27 season.
Contract Talks and Current Deal
Though eligible for the extension, Curry hasn’t talked about it with the Warriors yet. He signed a four-year, $215.35 million max contract in August 2021. For the upcoming seasons, he’s set to earn $55.76 million in 2024-25 and $59.6 million in 2025-26.
Stephen Curry is eligible to sign a one-year extension with Golden State for the 26-27 season at around $62.6 million. The Warriors have until October 21st to extend Steph for the extra year.

“We haven’t discussed it,” said Joe Lacob, Warriors owner. “He’s busy with the Olympics right now and should stay focused on that.” Lacob added that if Curry wants to talk about it later, they are open to discussions.
Fans think it’s great how dedicated he is!
Lacob believes Curry will remain a Warrior for life but mentioned Klay Thompson as an example of how things can change unexpectedly.
Klay Thompson Trade Impact
Earlier this year, Lacob aimed to reduce their luxury tax burden by trading Klay Thompson to the Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal. This move helped manage their salary cap better even though they later signed Buddy Hield for two years at $21 million.
Despite adding Hield’s contract, Golden State’s financial situation improved compared to before.
“We paid almost $700 million in luxury taxes,” said Lacob. “That’s fine if you’re winning but we didn’t make playoffs last year so we need adjustments.”
Curry’s Stellar Performance Last Season
With Thompson gone now all eyes are on Stephen Curryโs future with Golden State.
Last season was impressive for him: averaging 26.4 points per game along with solid stats like rebounds (4.5), assists (5 .1), shooting percentages (45% from floor & nearly41% from beyond arc).
He earned NBA Clutch Player of Year title by scoring most clutch points (189) and leading league three-pointers made(357). Also played more clutch games(48) than any other team!
Curry truly shined under pressure!
