The U.S. team was down by 17 points against Nikola Jokic and his Serbian teammates during their semifinal game but managed to pull off a thrilling comeback to win 95-91. Now, they are once again favorites for the gold medal match on Saturday against France.
Odds and Expectations
According to ESPN BET odds, Team USA started as a -14.5 favorite for the final game and has since moved to -16.5. Historically, they’ve often been favored in Olympic gold medal games since winning bronze in 2004.

In past Olympics, Team USA had spreads of -21 and -20 against Spain in 2008 and 2012 respectively, -15 against Serbia in 2016, and -12.5 versus France at the delayed Tokyo Games of 2020. โWe expect them to play their best because they have home-court advantage,โ said Stephen Curry after scoring 36 points against Serbia.
Since 2004, Team USA has only covered the spread once out of four times in Olympic finals.
