Three-Point Specialist Completes Sixers Puzzle

The Philadelphia 76ers have been active this offseason.

Daryl Morey has brought in Paul George, Andre Drummond, Reggie Jackson, Caleb Martin, and Eric Gordon. This makes the team look stronger and ready to compete in the Eastern Conference for the 2024-25 NBA season.

However, Morey might not be finished yet. Keith Pompey from the Philadelphia Inquirer mentioned that they might be interested in adding Davis Bertans to their lineup.

Potential New Addition:

โ€œSources have said the team had some level of interest in Bertฤns,โ€ Pompey wrote. โ€œBut despite his 6-10, 225-pound frame, Bertฤns is more of a three-point specialist than a power forward.โ€

Last season, Bertans played for both Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Hornets. He appeared in 43 games and averaged 6.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 39.3% from beyond the arc .

Philadelphia has struggled with perimeter scoring recently. Joel Embiid dominates near the basket, while Paul George will help with floor spacing but also excels at attacking the rim. Tyrese Maxey is similar in that regard.

Fans might think this addition could finally solve their shooting woes.

More shooters mean more space for stars like Embiid to operate without facing constant double-teams or defensive hedges. Defenses won’t collapse as easily on drives if they have to worry about shooters outside.

Even though adding Bertans won’t drastically change everything for the Sixers, it will definitely provide much-needed shooting depth off the bench and give Nick Nurse more options for rotations and combinations as he prepares for the new season.

What do you think? Will adding Bertans make a big difference?
