Thunder Forward Has Knee Procedure

Thunder forward Kenrich Williams had knee surgery in New York on Tuesday.

Recovery Timeline:

The team shared that Williams will be reevaluated after the preseason. This means he will miss both training camp and the preseason, with no certainty about his availability for the regular season.

Playing Time Decline:

Last season, Williams’ minutes dropped significantly. He averaged 14.9 minutes per game, down from 22.0 minutes in his first three years with the Thunder. In 69 games, he posted averages of 4.7 points and 3.0 rebounds.

Depth Chart Changes:

Despite being a solid defender and hitting nearly 39% of his three-pointers since joining the team in 2020, younger players like Jalen Williams, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, and Cason Wallace have taken on bigger roles. This shift has pushed Williams further down the depth chart.

Fans hope he recovers quickly.

Williams is still valuable to OKC’s bench but missing him this fall might not drastically affect the team’s rotation .

Contract Status:

Williams is under contract for about $13.8 million over the next two seasons. The Thunder also hold a $7.2 million team option for him in the 2026-27 season.
