Timberwolves Add Two Depth Players

The Timberwolves are signing Eugene Omoruyi and Skylar Mays, according to Michael Scotto.

Contract Details:

While the exact terms aren’t clear, it’s likely that Omoruyi and Mays will sign non-guaranteed contracts with Exhibit 9 or Exhibit 10 clauses. The Exhibit 9 clause helps teams if a player gets injured in preseason, while the Exhibit 10 clause gives a bonus up to $77.5K if the player is waived but stays with the G League affiliate for at least 60 days.

Player Backgrounds:

Omoruyi, who is 27 years old, has played for several teams since his NBA debut in 2021. Last season, he appeared in a career-high of 43 games for Washington, averaging modest stats. However, despite having a contract for the upcoming season, Washington waived him in August due to his non-guaranteed salary.

Mays was picked 50th overall in the 2020 draft and has played for multiple teams over four seasons. The guard split last season between Portland and L.A., playing a total of 38 games with average stats. He was recently linked to an Italian team but seems to be staying in the U.S. for now.

Current Roster Status:

With these additions, plus Chasson Randle’s reported deal, the Wolves will have 20 players on their rosterโ€”just one shy of the preseason limit of 21 players.
