Tyrese Haliburton Engaged To Longtime Girlfriend Jade Jones

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton pops the question at his college court

Tyrese Haliburton, 25, just proposed to his girlfriend of six years, Jade Jones, 27, in a moment straight out of a romance movie. The couple shared the news Monday with a heartwarming Instagram post.

The NBA star chose the perfect spot for the big question – center court at Iowa State University’s Hilton Coliseum, where their love story first began.

In a video set to “Can I Have This Dance” from High School Musical 3, Haliburton can be seen down on one knee at halfcourt, ring box open, as Jones covers her face in excitement.

The romantic scene included “Will you marry me?” lit up in lights and surrounded by red roses.

“The place where our story started, and where our next chapter begins” Haliburton wrote in the caption.

Jones playfully responded with “Future Mrs. What the Hali ,” cleverly referencing Rob49’s viral social media song, “WTHelly.”

The couple’s relationship has deep roots at Iowa State, where they met in 2019. Haliburton was a standout basketball player for the Cyclones, while Jones was on the school’s cheerleading team.

Just this April, they celebrated their sixth anniversary together. Haliburton marked the occasion with a sweet Instagram post: “6 years, countless memories, and a lifetime to go. I fall for you more everyday, I got you forever. Love you J.”

Jones shared similar sentiments in her own post: “Every single day you continue to amaze me!! You make this world shine so incredibly bright and I’m so lucky to spend life by your side.”

“6 years damn, my ride or die always! Love you girl,” Haliburton commented.

The proposal comes during a challenging time for the NBA star. Haliburton is currently recovering from a torn right Achilles he suffered during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. The injury was devastating for both Haliburton and the Pacers, who ultimately lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-91.

In some of the proposal photos, you can actually spot the walking boot and scooter he’s been using during his recovery.

The two-time All-Star and All-NBA player will miss the entire 2025-26 season while he recovers.

Haliburton’s NBA journey began when the Sacramento Kings selected him 12th overall in the 2020 draft. The Wisconsin native was later traded to the Indiana Pacers in February 2022, where he quickly became the face of the franchise.

His talent earned him a massive five-year contract worth up to $260 million in summer 2023.

Last season, the 6-foot-5 guard put up impressive numbers, averaging 18.6 points, 9.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting a solid 47.3% from the field.

While basketball may be on hold for now, Haliburton clearly isn’t letting his injury stop him from moving forward in his personal life with his college sweetheart.
