On Tuesday, Shams Charania reported that the Utah Jazz are close to a long-term deal with Lauri Markkanen, leaving the Warriors out.
Golden State had made an aggressive trade offer for Markkanen but refused to include one specific guard.
According to The Athletic, the Warriors’ offer included Moses Moody, several first-round picks, pick swaps, and second-rounders. However, they wouldn’t part with Brandin Podziemski.
Warriors’ Trade Moves:
This offseason has already seen big changes for the Dubs. They said goodbye to Klay Thompson in a massive six-team trade that brought Buddy Hield on board. Adding Markkanen would have given them another scoring threat next to Stephen Curry. Last season, Markkanen led Utah in points (23.2) and minutes (33.1) per game while also contributing significantly in rebounds and assists.
Fans might think this news is both exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time.
Brandin Podziemski was picked 19th overall in 2023 by Golden State and has exceeded expectations by earning first-team All-Rookie honors. He stepped up when Chris Paul missed 21 games due to injury.
Podziemski ended his rookie season strong with averages of 9.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 5.8 rebounds over 74 games (28 starts). At just 21 years old, he forms a youthful trio with Jonathan Kuminga (21) and Moses Moody (22), balancing out the team’s veterans like Curry (36) and Draymond Green (34).
