Warriors Secure Buddy Hield Over Two Teams

The start of the 2024 NBA offseason hasn’t been kind to the Golden State Warriors.

First, they couldn’t trade for Paul George, and then Klay Thompson left. But on Thursday, things finally looked up when they signed Buddy Hield.

According to The Athletic, a five-team sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers brought Hield to Golden State. Despite tough competition, the Warriors managed to secure Hield’s signature.

Hield picked the Warriors over the Lakers and Pistons because he saw a better chance to win .

Buddy Hield’s Journey:

The Lakers really wanted Hield for his shooting skills. He would have fit well with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, playing with Stephen Curry and the Warriors is also a great opportunity for him.

Hield has been around in the NBA. He started with the Pelicans but was traded to the Kings during his rookie year. After six seasons with Sacramento, he went to Indiana Pacers in 2021-22 and then moved to the 76ers last season.

Fans might think this move will make a big difference for Golden State.

In his best season (2018-19), he averaged 20.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting almost 46% from the field and nearly 43% from three-point range. Over his career, he’s maintained a solid 40% from beyond the arc in regular-season games.
