Steve Kerr, the Warriors’ head coach, is shaking things up with his unique player rotation strategy.
Game Strategy and Player Rotations:
Kerr has introduced a new approach where he decides who finishes games based on their performance that night. In their first game of the season, a big win against the Blazers, Kerr played 14 players with most getting significant time on the court. Against the Jazz, it was a similar story with 14 players again seeing action. Even in a loss to the Clippers, Kerr used 13 players extensively.
Curry’s Injury Concerns:
During the game against the Clippers, Stephen Curry hurt his ankle and will have an MRI soon. When asked if this might change his strategy to give certain players more time due to Curry’s potential absence, Kerr said he plans to stick with his current method. He emphasized that everyone needs to be ready for whatever role they are given.
Kerr humorously mentioned that while some might see his method as democratic when they win, it could be criticized as rigid when they lose. But he stands by his decision-making process because it’s about doing what’s best for the team over a long season.
Young Players and Their Development:
Some fans are curious if this strategy might limit opportunities for young talents like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski. Many thought Podz would step up after Klay Thompson left and Kuminga would become Curry’s main support in scoring. Yet so far this season, both have seen less playtime than last year.
We hope these young stars get more chances soon!
