The Golden State Warriors are on the hunt for a big-name player before the trade deadline.
Current Trade Targets
According to Shams Charania from ESPN, the Warriors are interested in acquiring a star, and Brian Windhorst has mentioned that LeBron James and Jimmy Butler are on their radar. However, due to their age, hefty contracts, and salary cap issues, these trades seem unlikely. Instead, the Warriors should focus on more feasible options like Cameron Johnson and Dennis Schroder.
Potential Deals with Brooklyn Nets
Charania also reported that the Brooklyn Nets might be open to trading players like Johnson, Schroder, and Dorian Finney-Smith. These players have more reasonable contracts compared to James’ or Butler’s massive salaries. The Warriors have been struggling lately and need players who can fill specific gaps in their lineup.
Possible Trade Proposal
If a trade happens with the Nets, it could look something like this: Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, a 2027 first-round pick, and De’Anthony Melton going to Brooklyn. Kuminga has shown potential but hasn’t quite fit into Steve Kerr’s system at Golden State.
Fans think it’s time for Golden State to make some smart moves!
Kuminga might thrive better in Brooklyn’s environment since Kerr’s style doesn’t suit him as a main scorer alongside Curry. If they’re not planning to keep him long-term anyway, it makes sense not to lose him for nothing.
The Benefits of New Players
Golden State would receive Cameron Johnson and Dennis Schroder in return. Johnson is known for his shooting skills and defense—perfect for supporting Curry with his impressive 18.8 PPG average from beyond the arc!

Schroder could help stabilize Golden State’s shaky ball-handling situation with Brandin Podziemski’s performance dipping this season. His stats show he can contribute right away by averaging 18.6 PPG along with solid defense capabilities.
Schroder completely took Herro out of the game. His def for the entire game was great. He didn't allow him to get any sort of space, use a screen, pressure full court or even get the ball back once he passed it off

Adding both Johnson and Schroder would boost the Warriors’ bench strength significantly—potentially turning them into serious playoff contenders instead of just play-in hopefuls!
